This sculpture in Bethlehem is a dedication to the steelworkers of Bethlehem who worked for the former industrial giant, Bethlehem Steel Corporation. The statue is of a steelworker putting an I-beam into place. It sits on top of hundreds of bricks that are patterned after the streets of Bethlehem. The bricks were purchased by friends, family, and businesses and were engraved with dedications to steelworkers.

Commissioned in 2001 by Bethlehem Mayor Donald T. Cunningham, the son and grandson of steelworkers, the sculpture’s dedication plaque states, “let this hallowed ground last forever as tribute to the thousands of men and women who worked in our city’s steel industry.”
