The contents of the failed King George Inn at the corner of Cedar Crest and Hamilton Blvds. are auctioned off on Monday. Built in 1756, the inn was built around the time of the French and Indian war and housed travelers as well as ,offering a place of refugee for settlers. In it's early years the inn served as a meeting place, court house, an early church and a place for locals to get news. During the Revolutionary War, Washington's troops camped behind the building and the officers probably slept at the inn. The inn is said to be haunted by ghosts, including a baby that was killed during an Indian raid and thrown in the well to contaminate the water.
