Penn State future schedules include Georgia State, Kent State

A month after Penn State's coaching staff worked a football camp at Georgia State, the schools announced a non-conference game for the 2017 season.

Penn State has completed its 2017 and '18 football schedules with non-conference games against mid-major opponents. The Lions will play Georgia State in 2017 and Kent State in 2018.

In June, Penn State coach James Franklin and his staff worked at a camp hosted by Georgia State coach Trent Miles, which drew attention from some SEC coaches. Georgia State, a fourth-year football program, will receive $1.2 million for the game, according to a contract obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The game, scheduled for Sept. 16, will be the first meeting between the two programs. Penn State previously was scheduled to host Pitt that day. That game has been moved to Sept. 9. Penn State's 2017 non-conference home schedule features Akron, Georgia State and Pitt.

The Lions will host Kent State on Sept. 15, 2018. Penn State is 4-0 against the Golden Flashes, whom it plays in 2016 as well.

Penn State still has open non-conference dates for 2015 and 2018.
