( Harry Fisher/The Morning Call / December 28, 2012 ) Stanley A. Parks, 85, of Emmaus, holds a bugle he retrieved from a dead Japanese soldier on Peleliu during WWII. Parks left Allentown High School in 1943 to join the Marine Corps. He was an 18-year-old private first class on Sept. 15, 1944, when the 1st Marine Division attacked the Japanese on Peleliu, midway between Guam and the Philippines. |
