I was sad to read in colleague Irene Kraft's Retail Watch column that South Whitehall's Mangos Coastal Cuisine closed Nov. 17.
The restaurant dished up an interesting mix of foods from coastal regions such as Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. I liked its ambition.
I took coworkers there several years ago to celebrate winning a national award, and we had a great meal.
Where else in the Lehigh Valley would you find on the same menu: paella, carmelized pineapple tilapia, quesadillas and crunchy fried tomatillos?
And its decor had a fun island vibe that included an interior courtyard and ceiling fans.
Owner John Pena told Kraft that his family has other plans for the property, but wasn't yet ready to discuss them.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
