Chase Utley Heart and Hustle Award winner for Phillies

Each year the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) chooses one player from each team as a Heart and Hustle Award winner. Tuesday, Chase Utley was announced as the 2014 winner from the Phillies. It is the fifth time Utley has received the honor.

A press release from the MLBPAA says the award "honors active players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit and tradition of the game." The release also notes that the award is the only one in Major League Baseball voted on by former players.

At the end of the season, fans, alumni and active players will vote to determine one overall winner from the 30 team winners. Roy Halladay won the overall award in 2010 and current Phillie, Grady Sizemore, was picked as the final winner in 2008 when he was with the Cleveland Indians.

This year's overall winner will be revealed at the 15th Annual Legends for Youth Dinner in New York City on November 18.
