Retro Baltimore: 50 things we miss

Yankee stadium

Flags fly at half staff over New York's Yankee Stadium on Aug. 17, 1948, in honor of the player who put it on the map — Babe Ruth, who had died the previous day. The House That Ruth Built is now in its last year of play, with a new ballpark set to open across the street. Tours of the old park are being offered to the public through at least Sept. 19. Advance tickets are required: Go to The tours are offered seven days a week, but note there are many exceptions.
