Director and star Clint Eastwood knocked it out of the park with this 1992 western that won four Oscars, including best picture and director. (A drama isn't a real drama unless it's won a couple of Oscars.) Eastwood grizzled it up as aging and retired outlaw William Munny, who gets back into the gun-slinging game one last time. Eastwood's western stripped off the gloss of myth and dealt with the ugly side of the western. Gene Hackman won an Oscar for supporting actor playing the violent sheriff, Little Bill.
