Hot Shots!

Jim Abrahams, a co-director of "Airplane!" with Jerry and David Zucker, helmed this silly 1991 spoof that’s best described as “Top Gun Meets Airplane!” Charlie Sheen stars as Harley, a former pilot for the U.S. Navy who is asked to return to active duty to bomb Saddam Hussein’s nuclear plant. Not all the jokes work, but Sheen and co-stars Cary Elwes, Valeria Golino, Lloyd Bridges and even his “Two and a Half Men” cohort Jon Cryer seem to be enjoying themselves. The 1993 sequel “Hot Shots! Part Deux" (pictured) also did well with audiences.
