1986-87 Lakers 67-15, First in Pacific Division Defeated Boston Celtics in NBA Finals, 4-2 Head Coach: Pat Riley Key Moments: 1. Lakers finish the season with the best record in the NBA. 2. The Lakers end the Boston Celtics' 48-game winning streak at Boston Garden. 3. Michael Cooper becomes the first, and so far, only, Laker to be named NBA defensive player of the year. 4. The Lakers jump out to a 29-0 lead against Sacramento on Feb. 4 and finish the first quarter ahead, 40-4. 5. Magic Johnson is named MVP of the regular season and the NBA Finals.
