Former <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ORSPT000003" title="Atlanta Braves" href="/topic/sports/baseball/atlanta-braves-ORSPT000003.topic">Atlanta Braves</a> ace John Smoltz signed a one-year, $5.5 million deal with Boston, though incentives could bring it all the way up to $10 million. Smoltz was limited to six appearances in 2008 after having right shoulder surgery and might not be pitching until May or June this season.
