E is for Elmo

The furry red monster famous for referring to himself in third person (Elmo wants to dance!) moved into the neighborhood in 1984 and has risen in popularity ever since. He's appeared on talk shows such as "Martha Stewart Living," "The View" and "The Rosie O'Donnell Show." In 1996, Tyco introduced a "Tickle Me Elmo" plush toy that when squeezed, shook and laughed hysterically, making it the "it" toy of the holiday season. --Lora Victorio, latimes.com
