One mark of great parents is how far they will go in order to keep their children shielded from the darker sides of life. Matt Damon's Ben Mee bought a zoo, but Roberto Benigni's Guido Orefice, center, works overtime to make his small son think that the Holocaust is nothing but a big game, a competition to win a tank. There's nothing more noble than parents doing without in order to ease the suffering of their children. And in this respect, Orefice succeeds admirably.
