'Marie Antoinette' (2006)

Fresh from her Oscar win for "Lost in Translation," <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB001134" title="Sofia Coppola" href="/topic/entertainment/sofia-coppola-PECLB001134.topic">Sofia Coppola</a>´s "Marie Antoinette" seemed very promising after it was nominated for the Golden Palm at the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="EVFES000023" title="Cannes Film Festival" href="/topic/entertainment/movies/film-festivals/cannes-film-festival-EVFES000023.topic">Cannes Film Festival</a>. Her vision of the doomed queen (<a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB001494" title="Kirsten Dunst" href="/topic/entertainment/movies/kirsten-dunst-PECLB001494.topic">Kirsten Dunst</a>) was not a traditional biopic. Candy colors and a daring soundtrack set it apart from other period pieces. The 1938 movie version starring <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB003678" title="Norma Shearer" href="/topic/entertainment/norma-shearer-PECLB003678.topic">Norma Shearer</a> received four Oscar nominations.<br>
