By 1954, the Minneapolis Lakers had won five titles in six years, starting with a National Basketball League title in 1948 and followed by <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="15008001" title="NBA" href="/topic/sports/basketball/nba-15008001.topic">NBA</a> championships in 1949, 1950, 1952, 1953 and 1954.
