Marion Cotillard, Best Actress, 'La Vie en Rose'

"I know that [Edith Piaf] was very close to people," Marion Cotillard said of her role in "La Vie en Rose." "She lived so many lives in one short lifetime. It was not even 40 years. And the way she was so close to people, she understood people from many walks of life. She lived in the street, she met poor people, she met very wealthy people after she became a big star. She met all kinds of people, and the way she told their stories went right into their hearts." At 32, Cotillard is among the younger nominees: "I haven't seen 'Juno' but I'm really looking forward to seeing it. That girl [Ellen Page] is amazing. I want to see 'Enchanted' too. It is a very young year for musicals and comedy. I don't know what exactly to say about this, only that when you have passion, no matter how old you are, you need to share it." -- Robert Welkos, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
