2007: Carrie Underwood

Verdict: If dance moves played an integral part in the voting process, then R&B crooner Chris Brown probably would have moonwalked home with this award. However, other than Brown (who has improved tenfold from his bland debut), it appears voters got it right by going with 'American Idol' winner Carrie Underwood. James Blunt won't be remembered for much beyond 'You're Beautiful' and commercially, Corinne Bailey Rae's music hasn't lived up to her hype. Not cursed.
