'McCabe & Mrs. Miller' (1971)

Christie received her second best actress Oscar nomination for her wry turn in this Robert Altman nouveau Western set in a fledgling Pacific Northwest mining town. Warren Beatty plays the none-too-bright John McCabe, who arrives in town to set up a whorehouse and tavern. Christie plays Mrs. Miller, an ambitious, experienced madam who operates the bordello with him. Four years later, Christie would make a cameo appearance in Altman’s “Nashville.”
