Grauman's Chinese Theatre

Opened in 1927, the Chinese Theatre -- then with theater impresario Sid Grauman's name pinned to its title -- quickly became known for its distinctive architecture, its movie premieres and its hand- and footprints of the stars. Marilyn Monroe, left, and Jane Russell plant their hands in wet cement on June 27, 1957, to commemorate the opening of their film "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes."Los Angeles Times
