U.S. execution violates ruling

Jose Ernesto Medellin Rojas was executed Aug. 5 after being convicted of rape and murder, despite the International Court of Justice’s ruling ordering a revision of his case and that of other Mexicans on death row in the U.S. Texas had refused to comply with the ruling, saying it was not bound by the international convention.
