Mary Mootey, right, sent her son Evans to her brother, who promised to educate him. Instead he forced him work on a fishing boat, as he had been forced to himself as a child. "My mother told me I was going to attend school but when I got there, there was no school, so I thought she'd deceived me," Evans said.
