Television host veteran Kimmel presented the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards, perhaps a surprising first for a man toting a bevy of emcee gigs throughout his career. Nielsen reports that Kimmel's performance delivered an average of 13.2 million viewers (up 6% from 2011), but scored a 3.8 rating to tie the all-time Emmys low in 2008. Here's footage of Kimmel trying to boost telecast ratings with a social media prank that involves Tracy Morgan faking loss of consciousness on the Emmy stage. Was Kimmel a guiding light or flame you wanted to extinguish? All we can say is that "if you hire a late-night host for an awards show, you'll get a late-night show monologue."
