'The Muppet Christmas Carol' (1992)

The first Muppet movie produced after the death of creator <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB000002473" title="Jim Henson" href="/topic/entertainment/television/jim-henson-PECLB000002473.topic">Jim Henson</a>, this adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" was also the first Muppet film to revolve around a human star (<a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB000803" title="Michael Caine" href="/topic/entertainment/michael-caine-PECLB000803.topic">Michael Caine</a> as <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PEFCC0000244411" title="Ebenezer Scrooge (fictional character)" href="/topic/arts-culture/literature/ebenezer-scrooge-%28fictional-character%29-PEFCC0000244411.topic">Scrooge</a>), with the Muppets filling out the supporting roles. While whole chunks of dialogue and narration were lifted straight from Dickens' original book (unique for a children's adaptation of the story), the film also allowed for musical numbers and few distinctly Muppet-y touches (instead of Fezziwig, we get Fozziwig).
