The complexity of Wagner

Leon Botstein, music director of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, has both personal and professional perspectives on Richard Wagner and his music. He was born in Switzerland and lost many family members in the Holocaust. But he opposes Israel's informal ban on the performance of Wagner's music, finding it "hypocritical" when works of other anti-Semitic composers are allowed.
