The best for last

At the 2006 Winter Olympics, Hannah Kearney watched the freestyle skiing finals from the sidelines after faltering in the qualifying rounds. The 2010 Olympics would be a far different experience. Having the best qualifying score entering the final round of the freestyle women's moguls meant that Kearney, only 23 at the time, would ski last. She had a big task ahead of her: Canadian Jen Heil and U.S. teammate Shannon Bahrke had all but locked up first and second place. But Hannah skied a clean run (with a gorgeous helicopter for her second jump), pushing both Heil and Bahrke to second and third place and winning America's first gold for the Vancouver Olympics. --Hanh Nguyen, Zap2it
