Yosemite: A tree that fell

Look close as you step into the Wawona Hotel's dining room and you'll see these lampshades (and their dangling pine cones). The pattern commemorates Yosemite National Park's lone drive-through tree, in nearby Mariposa Grove. But that tree fell in 1969. So if you want to see a drive-through tree in the park, this dining room is your only chance. Photo taken in 2013. Read more: A different view of Yosemite's Half Dome
