J is for Jim Henson

One of the most skilled puppeteers of all time, Henson was the creator of "The Muppets" and force behind "Sesame Street." Henson performed the characters of Kermit, Ernie and game-show host Guy Smiley. Before his sudden death in 1990, Henson founded the Jim Henson Foundation to promote and develop the art of puppetry in the United States. His children continue his legacy in creative projects and philanthropy. -- Lora Victorio, latimes.comPBS
