O.C. coroner lists death of former USC and Mater Dei water polo standout Jon Walters as an accident

An Orange County coroner's toxicology and autopsy report released Tuesday concludes that former USC and Santa Ana Mater Dei water polo standout Jon Walters died on Jan. 7 as a result of "multisystem organ failure with aspiration pneumonia."

The death is listed as an accident due to complications from alprazolam and ethanol intoxication.

Walters, 19, fell into a coma on Jan. 1 and had been hospitalized at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
