UCLA football: Officials pushing to raise funds for football facility

UCLA athletic department officials continue to push to raise money to build a new football practice facility.

The fundraising efforts have produced a little more than $30 million, up more than $3 million since October, according to a department official. The official declined to say how much money was in hand and how much was in pledges.

The facility is to be located at Spaulding Field, the current practice field next to Pauley Pavilion on campus, and is expected to cost about $50 million.

Under the terms of Coach Jim Mora’s new contract agreement, UCLA officials must begin construction on the football building by Oct. 1, 2015, or he will not be required to pay a buyout should he take another job.
