Galaxy forward Robbie Keane was named Major League Soccer's player of the week Monday after he scored two goals Saturday.
Keane's goals led the Galaxy to a 3-1 victory over the Portland Timbers at StubHub Center.
In the 73rd minute, Keane got behind the Portland defense, took a pass from Landon Donovan and headed the ball into the net from inside the six-yard box for his first score.
Then Keane converted a penalty kick from 27 yards in the 85th minute, lining the ball past Timbers goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts.
The two scores gave Keane a team-leading 12 goals for the season.
The Galaxy next plays the San Jose Earthquakes in the latest round of their so-called "California Clasico" matchup on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at StubHub Center.
