This could get interesting.
In that game, Arizona starter Ian Kennedy – who will take the mound for the Diamondbacks on Tuesday – hit both Yasiel Puig and Zack Greinke with fastballs up around their heads. Greinke had plunked Cody Ross earlier in the game – seemingly incidentally – and later hit Miguel Montero with a fastball in the back after the Puig beaning.
Both benches were warned after Greinke hit Montero, and both benches emptied after Kennedy hit Greinke anyway an inning later.
Greinke will start for the Dodgers on Monday night against Randall Delgado.
The June fisticuffs resulted in suspensions for eight of the brawlers, including Dodgers Manager Don Mattingly, hitting coach Mark McGwire and players J.P. Howell, Skip Schumaker and Ronald Belisario, who was quoted after the game as saying, “it’s not over yet, not at all.”
