Summer solstice in Macedonia

Celebrants gather at the megalithic observatory Kokino as the sun rises Friday, the 2013 summer solstice. The ancient astronomical observatory, located northeast of Skopje, the capital of the Republic of Macedonia, is more than 4,000 years old. It is ranked by NASA as the fourth-most ancient observatory in the world.
