Anton Shvarts (130 pounds) of Laguna Hills went 4-0 with three pins, was named lower-weight MVP and helped host Laguna Hills to a tournament-high 252 points at the Laguna Hills invitational on Saturday.

Shvarts, who is 24-11 on the year, defeated Jose Mauroquin of Alhambra, 15-8, in the finals to earn his first varsity tournament crown.

"This is our house," Shvarts said. "I think I came in (to this tournament) a lot more focused because you always want to win in your own building."

Alhambra heavyweight Bengie Gonzalez went 3-0 with three pins and was named upper-weight MVP, helping the Moors finish second with 162.5 points. San Dimas was third at 161. Santa Monica, which wrestled without Matt Ishler (215 pounds), was fourth at 128.5.

Joe Foss, a senior wrestling at 145 pounds, won his weight class with a 4-0 record and Nathan Nauta (3-1) placed third at 112 pounds as San Clemente won the team championship of its own tournament for the fourth time in 30 years.

Foss, who recorded three victories by pin, earned a 6-0 decision over Mira Costa's Bruno Aschidamini in the 145-pound title match, reversing an earlier loss to the Mustangs' standout in the North Torrance tournament two weeks ago. Nauta claimed third place in his division with a 7-6 decision over Taylor Alston of Corona del Mar.

Carlos Aguilar of Mayfair, who won a title at 140 pounds, was named the tournament's top wrestler after posting a 4-0 record and led the Monsoons to a fifth-place finish in the team standings. Aguilar registered three pins and one decision.

Fourth-place Cajon got a 4-0 showing from Chris Calderon, who won the 125-pound weight class with a 10-9 victory in sudden-death overtime over San Clemente's Matt Hartshorne in the championship match.
