John F. Kennedy and his wife, Jacqueline, walk from the White House to the inaugural parade in 1961. On the eve of Kennedy's inauguration, 8 inches of snow fell in Washington; an army of men worked all night to clear snow from Pennsylvania Avenue for the parade.
