LAPD</runtime:topic> and Marine Corps honor guards watch over the flag-draped casket of Robert J. Cottle at the Los Angeles Police Department headquarters downtown. A member of the LAPD SWAT unit, Cottle, 45, of Yorba Linda was also a sergeant major in the Marine Reserves and was killed last month in Afghanistan when his armored vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb. He is survived by his wife and child.
