Zion Baptist Church

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton invoked the civil rights legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. during an event at Citizens of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Compton. The Democratic candidate, campaigning in California less than three weeks before the state’s presidential primary, told those in the largely African American audience that they needed a president who would remember them from Washington, D.C. “Compton is birthing a community, but you can’t do it alone,” Clinton said.Brian Vander Brug / Los Angeles Times
