2009 Ford F-150 with 2008 Ford F-150 insert

An updated version of a beloved vehicle can be a risky move -- just take a look at what readers had to say on the <a href="http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/uptospeed/2008/10/legit-at-last-.html">new Nissan 370z</a>. But there are a few that make huge improvements. This year, Kelley Blue Book and its accompanying website <a href="http://www.kbb.com/">KBB.com</a> award the redesigned <a href="http://topics.latimes.com/autos/ford">Ford F-150</a> for the best nip and tuck.<br>

"The all-new 2009 Ford F-150 doesn't just haul and tow more, it also does it better than its best competitors while still being comfortable and quiet on the highway and easy around town," said Jack R. Nerad, Kelley's executive editorial director.<br>

In determining the winners, "editors consider exterior and interior styling, technology, comfort and convenience features, performance/capability, driving dynamics, safety, fuel economy, overall refinement and, of course, value." The following pages show (in alphabetical order) what other 2009 redesigns make the cut -- as well as what their predecessors were looking like.<br>
