This early example of Alvar Aalto’s work, produced by Artek, left, is made of Finnish birch with a contrasting-color top. It was offered for auction at Wright with a reserve price of $300 in September 2003. The Frosta stool is an adaptation of the 1933 design of Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. This version of the bent-wood stackable stool has four legs instead of three and sells for $14.99 at IKEA, where it has long been a staple.
