Occasional table

The 1955 occasional table by Isamu Noguchi, left, made of maple and laminate, features a base and top joined by thin metal rods. This month, the table, expected to fetch $3,500, was sold at auction for $4,250 at Wright in Chicago. Inspired by Isamu Noguchi, Leland International’s Marquette MLDB table, $719 as shown, has a spun-steel base, chrome supports and a plastic laminate top with a PVC edge. It’s available through the Scheffey Group in the Pacific Design Center, (310) 657-8922.
