Evelyn Ackerman's "Stained Glass," a 1969 wall hanging, was hand-hooked in Japan but bears the influence of hippie-era flower power. The effervescent piece is just one example of why collectors such as designer Jonathan Adler are drawn to the work. "I love their commitment to craft," Adler says. "All their stuff is beautifully made but it's also clear that they were au fait with the world of high art and had a very sophisticated sensibility that's often missing from crafts."
