Triumph vs. Eminem at the 2002 MTV VMAs

The stunt: When frequent "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" contributor Triumph the Insult Comic Dog attended the 2002 Video Music Awards, laughs and possible trouble seemed inevitable. Triumph joked with Moby before setting his sights on Eminem. Unfortunately, as soon as Triumph headed in Eminem's general direction, the rapper closed the puppet's mouth with his hand and had his posse up from their seats and ready to rumble.
Did it work: Although it's still unclear whether the incident was staged or organic, Triumph simply got more kudos for trying to go toe-to-toe with one of the biggest rappers at the time while Eminem came off as someone who needs to take himself less seriously. Two years later, the rapper also mocked Triumph on his 2004 album "Encore" to mostly deaf and disinterested ears.
