Cedar Cove In this new episode Justine (Sarah Smyth) tries to keep her involvement with the Luke (Jesse Hutch) a secret from her mother, while Jack (Dylan Neal) worries that his displeasure over Eric's (Tom Stevens) new job may put a strain on their newly improved bond. Sebastian Spence and Teryl Rothery also star. 8 p.m. Hallmark

Doctor Who Seen only briefly in a couple of earlier episodes, Peter Capaldi makes his proper series debut as the 12th Doctor in the season 8 premiere. Jenna Coleman returns as his companion. 8:15 p.m. BBC America. ("Doctor Who: Live Preshow" precedes the episode at 8, and "Doctor Who: After Who Live" follows at 11).

Hell on Wheels Campbell (Jake Weber) makes a move against Mickey and Durant (Phil Burke, Colm Meaney) in this new episode. 9 p.m. AMC

Intruders In this creepy new eight-part series set in the Pacific Northwest, a secret society pursues immortality by taking over the bodies of others. In the premiere, a former Los Angeles cop (John Simm) heads to Seattle after his wife (Mira Sorvino) on a business trip there. James Frain also stars. 10 p.m. BBC America


Veronica Mars In a movie fans helped finance (via Kickstarter) Kristen Bell reprises her 2004-07 TV series role as a not-so-young-anymore mystery solver. Original cast members Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Francis Capra and Tina Majorino also return. 8 p.m. HBO

PopFan Chelsea Kane stars as a young pop star who crashes her car during a Maine vacation and is rescued by a young man (Nolan Gerard Funk), who takes her to his secluded lighthouse to recover. The similarities between this new TV movie and the Stephen King novel and 1990 film "Misery" don't end there. 8 p.m. Lifetime
