'Tremors' (1990)

Kevin Bacon had another surprise hit in 1990 when he starred in the B-horror homage "Tremors." Bacon played handyman Val McKee, who had to battle a group of giant monsters that burrow under his desert town and pull people below to eat them. Despite the film's drive-in-quality premise, it boasted a surprisingly clever sense of humor, received strong reviews and became a box-office sensation. Several direct-to-video sequels followed, but Bacon had moved on to other things.
