Bowie State awards posthumous degree to slain student

Richard Matheson

Science fiction author Richard Matheson, shown in 1978, died June 23 at age 87. Matheson's most famous novel, "I Am Legend," was made into a feature film three times. He was a recipient of the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement, the Bram Stoker Award for Lifetime Achievement, and was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 2010.
