George Bernard Shaw

Novelist and playwright George Bernard Shaw was photographed in 1914 when a long treatise he wrote, "Common Sense About the War," became the center of much debate. More than a decade later, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for, the committee wrote, "his work which is marked by both idealism and humanity, its stimulating satire often being infused with a singular poetic beauty."
