Claim to fame: Laurie is best known to American audiences as the brilliant but cranky Dr. House on the long-running Fox series "House," where he's been nominated for six Emmys, won two Golden Globes and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. But before his network television debut, Laurie was best known as half of the British comedy duo Fry and Laurie alongside Stephen Fry, which appeared on several different BBC series. Did you know: One of Laurie's first credits was on an episode of the popular British sitcom "The Young Ones" with comedy partner Fry and one-time girlfriend Emma Thompson. Other credits: Laurie's first novel, "The Gun Seller," was released in 1996 and became a bestseller. He's currently working on his second novel.
