Oliver Stone: 1979

Whether it's a conspiracy theory or not, we can't say, but Stone used his moments at the microphone after winning the screenplay award for "Midnight Express" to proclaim that "the U.S. is putting people in jail for being high." This prompted an expletive-laden response from the audience. Later, the film's director, Alan Parker, would say, "Oliver is very bright, very well-meaning and very boring."
