A pilgrim shaves the heads of his sons as part of the rituals during the hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, that is required of  able-bodied Muslims at least once in their lifetime.  The official Saudi Press Agency reported that the  total number of pilgrims this year  was more than 2.4 million, with almost 1.73 million from abroad.
