Filipino protesters with chains hanging from their wrists staged a rally outside the World Bank office in Manila, Philippines. The rally was timed to coincide with the opening of the Group of 8 summit in Italy. The Filipinos were seeking the cancellation of all debts the World Bank is claiming from the Philippines and developing nations.
