OZARK, Mo. -- For the past couple of weeks, Ozark's newest resident caused quite a stir.
Many members of the community saw him walking up and down the streets on the south edge of town. He was spotted many places, including Murfins Market, Edward Jones Financial, and Godfathers Pizza. He was often seen just looking at his own reflection in the glass of some businesses.
Several people, including the Ozark Police Department, and Animal Control, tried to run him out of town, but he wouldn't take a hint.
As you may have guessed by now, we are talking turkey. A large male turkey took up residence in town for some unknown reason.
Missouri Department of Conservation agent Jeff Harris knows why he stuck around. Harris said, wiithin one hour of observing the turkey, he saw three vehicles stop near the turkey and throw food out to him.
Police in Ozark were concerned that his presence would eventually cause an accident due to people stopping in the road to watch him and avoid hitting him. Harris was able to capture the turkey after about and hour and a half chase and relocate him to an area outside of town near the Finley River.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
